{1000 Words - SC's October Class!}

I'm so, so SUPER-excited to share this with you tonight!

The newest online class at Studio Calico - slated for the month of October (& that I am co-teaching!) - is NOW open for registration.  :)

What makes it even more fun is that it's a PHOTOGRAPHY class that I will be co-teaching with some of my favorite scrappy-photographer friends.

This is more of a style-oriented class (than a technical class), and will give you a peek inside our thought process of taking the photos that we do, a bit more on the how & why of processing our images (the actions we use and tweaks that we make), and even a look at how we then incorporate those photos onto our scrapbook pages!

And like the other SC Classes - there will be a private message board and gallery to ask more detailed Qs and post images for feedback - LOVE that.  :)

"Do your photos capture 1000 Words? Six amazing photographers from the Studio Calico design team are here to help you capture more of the emotion, more of the moment, and more of the story. This class is unlike other photography classes because it doesn't focus on the technical aspects of shooting. Instead, we'll be giving you a glimpse into the photographic style of each of our teachers and contributors. We'll be covering twelve different topics, ranging from everyday moments to special occasions, and helping you to look at photographing them in a more meaningful way."

{SC's Central High Kit Revealed!}

Studio Calico's September Central High kit was revealed last night... ALONG with the FIRST EVER coordinating CARD KIT!

I worked with both the main Central HIgh kit and Central High Card Kit - along with addons #1 Style Guide, #2 Capital Avenue, & #4 The Register.  I also threw in some More SC Paper and More Color for good measure.  ;)  And this is what I made...

Handwriting 101 was inspired by the super-cute SC Exclusive "Make the Letters" handwriting paper included in the Main kit and MORE SC Paper.  Ev's been working on his name (with lowercases!) alot, and I loved that I was able to save one of his scraps to fit on this page.

...Insta-Splash is a collection of some of my favorite splash park slide pics of Evan from the summer.  I feel like this summer was one big splash park party for us - which we all loved!  I printed my insta's at postal pix for this.

...Hello Summer!  (i miss summer already!)  This is a snap from a week or two ago - our last week of summer - building a crazy cool swirly sandcastle with Ev - that I just wanted to enlarge to take up most of the page.  That little mistable arrow shape at the top is one of my favorites from the kit this month!  (mistable arrows were included in the September Central High MAIN kit!)

And now on to the cards. ;)  AND my new love - the Card kit!!!

I Heart You was created ENTIRELY wih the MAIN Central High Card Kit!  (Mistable arrows were included in the card kit as well!)

...Sending Smiles - this is a mix of everything - BUT the stamps are ALL from the Card kit!  :)

...Hello!  The negative of "hello" was left on my silhouette mat from another project, so I just cut a word bubble around it and used it here!

...Congrats!  Just had to find a way to use the cute gold foil star trim and way to go stamp in #2 Capital Avenue.

...XOXO - the pennant style stamp that was included in the Card kit was definitely a FAVE this month - and perfect to stamp on lots of scraps for this card.

...And finally - This way to my Heart! - This was created ENTIRELY with the Main Central High Card Kit specifically for the Moxie Fab World blog.  I had fun running color coordinating stitching over the heart die cut here, and working in some shine with sequins!

And THAT was September!

{hello first day.}

hello first day.

we have ALOT of you in our future...  But today was the first, first day with BOTH boys going back to school (and together!).

Mr. Noahpants packed up his brand-new Mickey lunchbox with goldfish & a capri sun for snacktime and headed on out to his pre-preschool 2 year old class (which meets 3x's a week) for a morning that was filled with lots of playing, "Glue-ing stuff" (as his teacher informed me he did at pick-up), painting (evidenced by a tee-shirt and fingernails covered in paint), & playground time.  He loved every bit of it and didn't cry a bit when I dropped him off & waved good-bye.  TOTAL.2nd.CHILD.  ;)

& Evan started Kindergarten at the same school he went to pre-school at last year.  We love the continuity & sense of familiarity that this provided him with (so perfect for a transitional year as we intend this to be).  He rocked a new Star Wars Lego tee and light-up Star Wars sneaks, and told me he loved his new class & friends.

He brought home a sweet little note about his first day...

And also a very special new "Red Plate".

& after having such a great first day, today was designated a "Red Plate" day, with dinner eaten from the special plate, while telling Daddy ALL about what goes on in Kindergarten...

This past weekend we took some time to snap a few "back to school" pics in our backyard (since I knew this AM would be craziness!).  I snagged this vintage desk from an antique mart earlier in the week (I'd wanted to pick one up for a while now...).

& I love that his sweet little Kindergarten-Style personality shows through here...  We had fun with these...  He humored be by taking these.  ;)

It's going to be a GREAT year.

i hate neglecting the blog...

but we are HERE....

spending our days at the pool, and the beach...

AND enjoying the last week of summer.

BOTH of my boys start school in a week, and I am having trouble wrapping my brain around the concept of "free" time - something that has eluded me for the past two years.

It's going to be AWESOME.
