{SC's Summer of '69 Revealed!}

Studio Calico's August kit - Summer of '69 - is now available!

And this is what I made with it...

...At-Home SuperHero was created entirely with the MAIN kit - Summer of '69.  Loved this little snap of Ev while he was running around the house one day being Capt America & "kapowing" (his word) everything in site, and I've been saving it to scrap for a while!

...You 2 is a mish-mash of all of my favorite elements of the main kit + the two addons that I grabbed (Five & Dime and Mama's Porch with probably a little bit of Addon Patterned Paper thrown in too).  Every once in a while its fun for me to do a page and throw a little pink in - sometimes i just NEED some pink.  ;)

...Evan @ Five was inspired by a pin on my scrappy inspo pinboard.  The interview style journaling was SO quick to do and I know I'm going to love this page years from now.  :)

...Thank You - these die cut punches were included in Addon Patterned Paper.  I spritzed a bit of Shine on there too for some glitz.

...It's the little Moments - this card's sentiment is the stamp that was included in Mama's Porch.  Actually the ENTIRE card is from Mama's Porch.  :)

...Just a Note - this card's stamp was included in the Main kit.  Wanted to use it somewhere and this seemed just right.

And that was August's Kit.

{five}

Today we celebrated FIVE.

(this was the pic we used on Ev's bday party invite - which will be later this weekend)

(one of us - ahem EV - woke up very very VERY early and got himself dressed and waited super-patiently - while staring & counting presents(!) - on the rest of the fam to start celebrating...)

And we celebrated with lots of Ninjago, and with "video games" & Wii, and as much "Lego" as humanly possible...

...And then we celebrated with Ninjago even a little bit more.  This was most definitely the "ninjago" birthday (like last year was the "superhero" birthday, and the year before that was the "toy story" birthday...)  (ps- thanks to aunt kimmie for the rattlecopter in the pic below - it was a huge hit!)

Happy Happy #5 Sweetpea - I love re-living the unbridled birthday excitement of a five year old through you, again.

{Zigs & Zags: A Chevron Style Quilt}

My quilting time has been limited since Noah joined our family two years ago, to say the least.  :)  Finding time to work on a project - and actually complete it - is a challenge...  I sometimes visit my Pinterest Quilting board just to stare longingly at all of the gorgeous project pins that I'd love to attempt, yet repeatedly chose a nap or extra sleep over, instead of starting one.  ;)

Knowing my limitations, I really don't take on custom projects any longer - which was why I was hesitant when Jennifer emailed me asking me to create something for her baby-on-the-way last Spring.  I absolutely ADORE her - and have always loved her scrapbook & card projects (she's been a major scrap crush of mine from the start!) - and after discussing what she wanted, decided that this might be the project I needed to get me out of my sewing slump.

We collaborated on the color palette and created this modified zig-zag quilt (using this tutorial) - and based off of a solid & similar chevron style quilt found on pinterest (that I can't seem to locate right now!) - and this is what the result was:

...I love the pretty colors paired together, and especially that there's so much aqua involved!  The background fabric for the chevrons (big chunk pieced on top and bottom of the five rows of zigs & zags) is Michael Miller's Ta Dot in Sea.

...The wonky grey with white dots print used as the bottom chevron (and as the binding) is from Riley Blake's Tuxedo line.  And ignore my "chick prints" - I finished this around Easter time(!) just didn't manage to blog it until now.

...The backing is super simple but still offers a bit of variety - three big chunks pieced together.  I stipple quilted this with a free motion stitch & lots of swirls.

...I was so happy to be able to actually finish this on time and before she had her sweet baby.

Hoping there's more quilting time in my future this fall, with both boys back in school!

{SC's Yearbook & Classic Calico #3}

Super Excited to be able to share a bit of the new Studio Calico CHA-Summer release lines with you today.  I was sent their Classic Calico Volume 3 & Yearbook collections to work with, and create booth samples.

This is what I whipped up with the Classic Calico 3 goodies - Using a gorgeous pic of my nieces taken by my sister Kristi - to add a splash of color to the versatile neutral pallette of this line.  This line is going to go GREAT with the HEY DAY that i already have in my stash, too.

...LOVE these krafty heart stickers - they may be my new fave.  ;)

...This is the first of the Yearbook line.  Lots of rich colors that remind me of a fall hues with a modern twist.  I (of course) pulled all the aqua out of this line and went to town with it.  ;)  LOVING aqua + red right now - which was perfect for this shot of the boys taken earlier in the month.

...How fun are the # clips?!  :)

...And this is the second of my Yearbook pages.  A favorite two year old shot of Mr Noah (which reminds me that I still need to blog the last and final installment of his every month posts!).

...The polaroid frames are sure to show up on more of my pages (and my Project Life album) in the near future!!!

{currently...}

...(currently) annoyed that I haven't blog documented the last almost three weeks.  (*One of the main reasons that i DO blog is bc i love love LOVE looking back on the past x # of years and remembering things through the blog that I would have otherwise forgotten about.)  And so, I wanted to update with something from the past few weeks.   Here it is, a status update of sorts.

Currently:

LOVING: Summertime.  Plain & Simple -- relaxed schedules, later wake-ups, & lots of pooltime.  Plus impromtu afternoon beach outting with the boys.  I'm a lucky momma.

HEARING: Noah say things like "sanks mama" (aka "thanks momma" when i do something for him or give him something) and "mick-EEE nap" (at bedtime) or "watch mick-EEE" (notice the mickey theme?!).  LOVE that he's finally putting two words together.

READING: this, and just got through reading Flat Out Love - quite possibly the best book I've read all year?!  have i mentioned lately that i LOVE my kindle!!!

EXCITED ABOUT: the Wii that we just bought for Evan for his bday next week (shhhh!).  It's about time we (and by "we" i mean eric & i) learned how to play.  ;)

LAUGHING ABOUT: How we told Evan that his karate and dance camp this week was "NINJA CAMP" and thus he keeps asking when he'll get to "do flips" at camp (like the lego ninjagos!).  ;))

WATCHING: Big Brother.  what else?!!!!

THINKING: that it's been almost 5 years since my "baby" was born.  (he'll be 5 next week)  that's just crazy.  where has the time gone?!

& PROOFING: lots & lots from the past few weeks of summer - here a few faves.  :)

...my almost 5-year-old, from last night.  :)  love it when i can erase the "i-have-to-take-a-photo-scowl" from his face and make him laugh (like this) while i'm snapping.  (This is arriving tomorrow to be hung immediately on the wall!)

...the boys from the 4th.  Thank you old navy for our annual tees!

...Evan's first-ever sparkler - he was reluctant to try it at first, but I'm so glad he got brave and did!

...Evening-golf in the front yard.

...THIS may be my favorite pic so far from the summer - Ev in his hawaii "get-up" (party favor from a friend's party last weekend!) and then he added on the cowboy hat & guitar from the stash of toys in his room and came out saying "hey look at me - just like in hawaii toy story" (aka the short).

...And my boys at the beach a few weeks ago.  The beach that I shot this on is one of my favorite summer places.

{Project LIFE: Week 16 & 17}

Nevermind that we're going into week #29 -- but i have week #16 & 17 to share today.  At least that's something.  ;)

Especially considering the fact that my last blog post was a scheduled post while I was away visiting my parents with the boys, and I have majorly neglected the blog since getting back.  ((We've just been enjoying summer too much I think!))

Going to try to catch up on lots this week - and I'll have Studio Calico CHA projects to share here at the end of the week!  :)

SO this was week 16:

...I jotted down a cute little convo that I had with Ev (in my PL journal - essential to my success with this album!), and then copied it onto this home-made journaling card - just used a quote bubble brush (that I made myself) at a reduced opacity and then added the text.

...Week 16 was alot of this and that, a snap of the shakeshack buzzer that was taken by eric while in miami and texted to me in a (succesful) attempt to make me jealous, & my i think my favorite from the week was the "tree" evan brought home from preschool.

...

...and i think it was right around this time that "we" started getting really REALLY obsessed with Ninjago legos.  (Noah loves 'em too.)  & so I snagged one of ev's cards and added it into the week... along with a lottery ticket (we really don't buy lotto tix, I think eric's parents bought it for us while they were visiting?!  regardless thought it would be fun to look back on years from now.)

 

And this was Week 17:

...We celebrated Earth Day with friends by planting seeds, made crazy playdoh guys, & finally got the rug + tables that we had ordered for our family room.

...I love that there are lots of camera phone snaps mixed into my week - makes it easier to capture everything that I want to!

...Evan tasted his first fortune cookie this week, and I saved the fortune and stitched it to the photo (bottom right).
