a little bit of me.

{at 9 months...}

So, we have officially hit 3/4 of a year.

whoa.

stop.it.already!

and i-feel-like-a-broken-record, but baby evan is changing each and every day...

We snuck a few photo sessions in this week (a few days post 9-months) and took the required onesie pics and also some cutie baby-at-9-months shots...

here he is - looking oh-so-serious in his home-made onesie :)

but the serious face never lasts long with evan...

Liking that i got a shot with the pillow that i quilted EXACTLY 9 months ago and posted about the day before i went into labor (!!)

And, So at 9 Months, Evan...

...still only has those 2 CUTE bottom teeth

...throws toys (and his pacis) out of his crib.  (and out of the bath tub.)  we find them all under the crib.  :)

...Loves LOVES it when i sing him the "my hand says hello" >> ((we learned this at the library's baby storytime class))

...thinks toby is the coolest thing ever.

...checks every toy out to see if it has wheels.

...definitely DEFINITELY does NOT LIKE plain yogurt.  ;)

...is a pro at riding in the front of shopping carts.

...weighs ?? (to be filled in my momma tomorrow!!)

...eats breakfast, lunch and dinner - along with 4 bottles.

...says momma, and dadda (we think?!).

...wants to look out the window 24-7.

...insists on standing, with our help.

...takes a reg nap at 11:30am.

...is a great car-seat rider - and has graduated into his regular baby britax seat.

...has an INSANE amount of hair.  and CURLS in the back!!

...and, is starting to look like such a little boy....  >>

{mn no more}

the reason that i've been insanely busy this past month...

our 55038 is about to change to 32082...

32082 = ponte vedra beach, fl.  just south of jacksonville.  awesome.  :)

our house here went on the market last wednesday...

& while we loved our time in mn, we've been here 3 years (our max anywhere) and it's def time to move on, and to be closer to family, and for eric to say yes to a great career opportunity...

so we have a month left to enjoy mn...

and then we'll be at the beach.

so, if you know anyone who needs a large house, with fabulous natural light, in centerville, mn...  >>  send them our way... :)

{those cute little every-month onesies...}

i know i've promised to post how i make evan's every-month onesies...

as seen from 6 months on HERE...  and HERE...  and HERE.... :)

so here it is!

and this was SO not my original idea - just to be clear...

i was copying off of a design that Old Navy put out a while back...

and with a little help from blog-reading friends...

somehow just made it my own.  :)

WHAT YOU NEED:

(1) a white Onesie (i use Gerber brand onesies that i buy at Target - but warning, i think these run SMALL)

(2) a color inkjet Printer

(3) Photoshop - is use PS7.0

(4) Inkjet Tshirt Transfer Paper (i use Avery Inkjet light colored tshirt transfers)

(5) an Iron

STEP 1: Create your circle with month image in Photoshop.  Open new, 5 inch x 5 inch document, white background, 300 DPI.  Draw Circle by selecting the elliptical marquee tool, and then click and drag (while holding down shift) to create perfect circle at whatever size you like.

STEP 2: Fill circle - using paint can to fill with whatever color you like.

STEP 3: Add Month #.  Select text tool - click and draw text box, then add # to represent months old.  Make sure that text color is set to white, and that alignment is on center alignment option.  I use ITC American Typewriter as my font (i bought this font from www.myfonts.com), and use a 210 pt size for the #.

STEP 4: Add text for "months".  Select text tool - click and draw second text box - under # of months, then type the word 'months'.  Again -- Make sure that text color is set to white, and that alignment is on center alignment option.  Again -- I use ITC American Typewriter as my font, and use a 50 pt size for the word months.

STEP 5: Now - according to directions on Avery's Inkjet Tshirt Transfer Paper - the image must be flipped - PRIOR TO PRINTING - so that when ironed on, it appears the right-way, and is readable.  To do this -- First flatten your image, then go to IMAGE >> ROTATE CANVAS >> FLIP CANVAS HORIZONTAL.  Your image should now look like this and is ready for printing:

STEP 6: PRINT image on avery inkjet tshirt transfer paper (accordin to package directions) -- i use the best setting on my printer -- and then IRON onto Onesie according to package directions.

DONE!

** optional: i like to create a fun back-of-the-onesie slogan...  which can be done in a similar way to the directions above, just always remember to flip horizontal before printing!!

** you should know - i've found these inkjet onesies dont wash well.  this is pretty much a one-time wear, solely for my photo-op purposes!!!

** Tip: once created - Keep your PS file saved as a PSD file IN LAYERS, and you can easily just open it up, change the fill color (or not) and update the month #!!

{a few of the 8,000 things}

there are about 8,000 things going on in my brain right now...  roughly.  ;)

among a few...

tsukineko brilliance dew drop inks are fabulous.  why did i not know about these before??  so crisp and colorful and perfect.  over the past 24 hours i have made 2 trips to Joanns, and now own 24 of these little babies.  love, love them.

i'm totally annoyed that THESE handprint canvases are temp unavail from red envelope.  i really, REALLY wanted them for evan's room.  and i know that i could prob def make them myself.  but i'd rather just be a craft-slacker and order everything pre-coordinated and perfectly ready for a minimal amount of effort on my part.

((minimal effort is key these days))

thank god for peiwei.  its so tasty, and it's relatively close.  by minnesota suburbs standards, at least.

evan is a crazy-cool-milk-signing little baby now.  like my usual rule is no feeding until after 5am...  EXCEPT that he was not happy and screaming and signing "MILK MILK MILK" in his crib at 4:30am last night, soooooooooo i knew what he wanted, and he got milk.  awesome.  & everyone was happy at that point.

the new amy butler midwest modern fabrics are so gorgeous.  i know bc i bought a ton while fabric shopping in st paul with nisa today.  and i CANT.WAIT.TO.SEW.SOMETHING with them.  :)

and finally, how long will it be till he is standing on his own and even walking?  bc i'm pretty sure that we are just skipping over the whole 'crawling' thing...??!

{today...}

...it was in the SIXTIES!!!!  and the ice began to melt in the lake by our house.  which DEF means spring.  right?!  :)

...we had a nice sized amount of 'gymbucks' (thanks to my over-ly 'healthy' habit of online shopping), so we went real-mall shopping and pretty much bought out the entire by the seashore line at gymboree.  blue + orange = my favorite colors and the summery-ness of it just makes me feel warm.  nice.  bring on summer for baby evan.

...our little 'mall-shopping' outing lasted all of about 45 minutes when evan refused to let me try on this skirt at the Gap.  like im talking SERIOUS screaming and shrieking as soon as we entered the fitting room.  and then we left and came home.  so now i will pick one online...  thinking green, but also loving the orange??

...and yet evan looks so cute here (photo from today) that you'd hardly know he was such a stinker at times...

...eric and i just finished watching AI.  and we are a "Cook" house divided.  i love david cook.  as in as soon as i blog this i am going straight to itunes and downloading his performance so i can listed to it on repeat while i work tonite.  and eric loves kristy lee cook.  as in he tunes in each week just to see where she is sporting her "glitter" - ie hair, eyes, tank top??  ha.

and that was today.

{signs of the time}

#1 - its snowing outside. again.  and on april 11.  enough already.

#2 - during dinner...  eric took too much of a break from feeding evan sweet potatos...  and then the moment came that has been 3 months in the making...  EVAN SIGNED MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  and i caught it out of the corner of my eye and screamed "MORE, YOU WANT MORE" and eric gave him more and all was great.  even tho eric didnt really believe he was signing it.  And then (just to make sure), we were bad parents and stopped feeding him to see if he would do it again.  and he did.  AWESOME.

(i really - sadly - have no photo to go along with this...!)

#3 - why only sign one thing when you can sign two?!

...since january, we've been using signs constantly for 'more', 'eat', and 'bottle'.  i love the concept of baby-signing and had really really wanted it to work for evan.  (and i was seriously just telling nisa yesterday that i must be doing something wrong bc we hadn't seen any signs back)

...so anyways - about 5 seconds after this photo, evan was starting to get a little impatient that the cap was on the bottle, and stared squeezing his little fist to get our attention.  and it worked.  he got the bottle asap.  so great little baby.  so great.

i'm totally going to make him do it again tomorrow.  (for the video cam of course)

was just now going through fall photo files on my computer looking for a certain pic for a project and came across the unedited version of this...

...so i edited it.

and i can't believe that this was 6 months ago?!

where is the time going...???

the blanket is from IKEA...

i also totally forgot that i owned/bought this blanket last fall...

finding the blanket tomorrow (its 12:15am as i type this) and then finding somewhere in the house that it'll look good...

{puffs-breakthrough!}

we celebrate little achievements in our house...  like this.  :)

& it took him over a month...

(of gagging, choking, and coughing)

but he's finally really, REALLY got it.

and i have to say...

evan LOVES the puffs!

and it is so SO cute to watch.

(we may just go completely WILD & move on to cheerios tomorrow?!)

and a pic from this weekend...  we had grandma and grandpa visiting from Florida for 5 nights...  and we finally got to got to Como Zoo - and enjoy FABULOUS 50+ degree weather on Saturday....  SO NICE!!

...the giraffes (along with the monkeys, zebras, seal, lion, and ape) were not ev's favorites...  nope, he loved the fish.  the fish in the tank that he could see swimming right in front of his face...  we need to take him to an aquarium sometime soon....! :)
